Under my skin

The Findells

UNDER MY SKIN

Where is the moon?

Where are the stars?

Where is my west my east

my midnight and my noon?

She is my weather

My night my day

She is my everywhere

The next thing I say

She’s under my skin

She took her glasses off and

Put my world into a spin

I opened up and let her in

Under my skin

We could talk about nothing

Or not talk at all

Tap water and Nescafé

Listen to the snow fill up the yard

Blackeyed susan
Vinegar pie

Subterranean smile

The incandescent eye

She’s under my skin

She took her glasses off and put my world into a spin

I opened all the doors and let her in…
Under my skin

one hundred thousand Drum fish dead in the river

five thousand red-winged blackbirds falling from the sky

no one seemed to notice as the world began to tremble

We stood sangfroid and feckless as he dropped into the sea

This is my heart

This is my blood

This is my sin

This is my soul
