Disappear

The Findells

Disappear

Bobby didn’t talk much

Never had a whole lot to say

He was a shadow in a shadow

A twist in the wind

And he drifted away

Took a step from this world into another one day

I used to love

To hear Harvey Mars sing

He was a real cool cat

With a swing in his hip

A true rockabilly king

He got in his car and drove off one day in the spring

Sometimes I think (Sometimes I think) I’d like to disappear

Put it all behind, just check out of here

To a place no one can find me

Put all the worry and the pain behind me

Find a place I’m free to wander

Somewhere out there in the wild blue yonder

Whatever happened to

That skinny redheaded freckled faced cowgirl?

She worked down at the carnival,

I think her name was Lonnie Pearl

She used to let us ride for free on the Tilt-a-Whirl

Last time they saw her

Was after midnight down at the Waffle Hut

She was with that gypsy named Leroy

Who always kept one eye shut

They walked out the door, they didn’t even stop to pay

Nobody even noticed.  Just an ordinary day

now there’s all the vicious rumors, things people like to say

Like how he cut her up in pieces and cast her body into the bay

Or tied up in the basement and turned her into a sex slave

I like to think they just fell in love and decided to run away lying half naked on the beach down in Kamalame Cay

Sometimes I think (Sometimes I think) I’d like to disappear

Put it all behind, just check out of here

FIND a place no one can find me

Put all the worry and the pain behind me

(ooh…)Get away from the heartache

Far away from the misery

the greed and anger

The sickness and sorrow

the self righteous and the narrow

The pious and paltry

pigheaded politicians

all the pundits and the prophets

with their hands in your pockets

FIND a place I’m free to wander

Somewhere out there in the wild blue yonder

It’s sad and It’s hard but

Bobby is gone and that’s a fact

It wasn’t in his history

To leave us with a mystery like that

Vanish without a trace

Like a Cheshire cat

Sometimes I think I’d like to disappear
